FAQs

How long will it take to address my envelopes?
1
I aim to address 40 - 50 envelopes in calligraphy per day. Good quality calligraphy is written slowly - it can’t be rushed.
I will communicate timings with you throughout the process. You’ll know which day I’ll start work on your envelopes, which day I’ll complete them, and when they’ll be despatched (always with a tracked service).
Early booking is recommended, so I can prioritise addressing your envelopes as soon as I have them.
How do you send my envelopes back?
2
Is there a minimum order quantity?
I use Tracked postage with DPD or Royal Mail. Let me know if you have a preference. You’ll receive delivery notifications when your parcel is with the delivery company, and when it’s out for delivery.
Most importantly, I will pack your envelopes carefully and securely so they’re safe on their journey back to you.
What if there’s a mistake in the address list?
3
I have an eagle eye for address mishaps - post codes with a digit out of place, or unusual name spellings. I will always check these with you, and contact you by email with any queries.
I can’t guarantee I’ll spot every error, so please be very careful checking your list before you send it.
If you notice you’ve made a mistake once you’ve received your calligraphed envelopes, drop me a quick email and we can arrange for a replacement to be written.
After 20 years of addressing envelopes in calligraphy I very rarely make mistakes, but if I do, just let me know. If a mistake was my fault (ie the calligraphy doesn’t match the list you sent me) I will rewrite an envelope free of charge. Please make sure you have plenty of spare envelopes, just in case!
Can you write on any envelopes?

Most envelopes are suitable for calligraphy. I can write on white, colour or black envelopes.
Very occasionally, handmade paper envelopes are not suitable for calligraphy. Glossy envelopes or envelopes with a printed coating may also be unsuitable for calligraphy. If you’re not sure, you can always send me a sample envelope to test before you book.
Yes - I’d love to! Simple illustrations like the ones shown in the photographs of the purple envelopes on this page are best: single colours, line drawings and botanicals / flowers are my speciality.
This adds to the time taken to write each envelope of course - please ask me about illustrations and we can discuss any extra cost for making your envelopes that little bit more unique!
10 envelopes is my minimum order quantity for calligraphy addressing. However, it’s really important to send at least 3 spares, even for a small order like this.
With larger orders, I request 10% spares (e.g. for 100 addresses, I’ll need 110 envelopes - just in case!
